Selection Criteria and Standards for Club Squads 2024 - 25

Junior Squad: (3 swim sessions per week)Be at a minimum standard of Stage 5 of the Swim England Awards Programme

  • Lane progression is determined by passing Stages 6, 7 & 8 of the Swim England Awards Programme
  • Regular attendance at sessions 
  • Listen, respect & encourage your fellow swimmers & coaches
  • Make every effort to attend any Club Time Trials
  • Swim in the Club Championships
  • Expected to attend Club and Competition Galas when selected
  • “Always be your best & challenge yourself”
  • Have Fun  

Senior Squad: (4 swim sessions per week + land training at Head Coaches discretion): Be at a minimum standard of Stage 8 of the Swim England Learn to Swim Awards Programme

  • Progress & develop skills required to attain Swim England Awards 9 & 10
  • Swim 16 x 25m Freestyle on 35 sec swim & rest (reading pace clock)
  • Continued regular attendance at sessions to remain in the squad
  • Listen, respect & encourage your fellow swimmers & coaches
  • Be able to read & take responsibility for reading a swim set from a white board 
  • Make every effort to attend any Club Time Trials
  • Swim in the Club Championships
  • Expected to attend Club and Competition Galas when selected
  • Challenge yourself & “Always be your best”
  • Have Fun
